Imagine your heart being clenched by a wide palm. While the fingers wrap and the fist tightens, your lungs get confused and fill your gut with air. Your chest is arched and warm yet your fingertips are cold and your legs are asleep. The mind you once populated with nonsense has mutinied and is now focusing her entire effort on heightening your senses. At this point, a quick spurt of air escapes your gaping smile, to an onlooker it could be mistaken for laughter, or a cough, but in reality you are “less capable,” “more vulnerable” than you’ve been in some time. That puff of air was a white surrender flag, you have been seized.
The women of Mountain Man smile when they sing, yell when they sing, touch when they sing and groan when they sing. It is the humanity behind their pristine harmonies that effects us so deeply. Underwater Peoples is proud to announce Mountain Man’s first EP, and with it, the many puffs of air it will undoubtedly elicit.
